CD REVIEW: John Craigie "Montana Tale"
As an independent folk musician with a lot of songs under his belt, John Craigie has released one of his best albums to date. His newest, which features a handful of bay area musicians, shows off all the may facets of his musical repertoire. Zach Gill (ALO, Jack Johnson) lends his keyboarding talents to the album, which features styles ranging from country to mellow acoustic folk. The highlight of the album, and consequently the longest song on the disc, is "All Through Montana." A few of the other standouts on the disc are "Mama Nashville" and "Gone" which show Craigie's range as a musician and songwriter. John Craigie may have only been releasing music for the past six years but the release of this album makes him seem like it's been more like twenty-six.
